Basic status
Location
Located at the mountainous areas of the Noryeong Mountain Range, the center of the southern part of Jeonbuk State, Sunchang is 60.5km away from Jeonju, home to the Provincial Office, and 40km away from Gwangju Metropolitan City. The mountainous county borders Namwon-si on its east with Seomjin River between two areas and the branch ridge of the Noryeong Mountain Range separates the town from Jeongeup-si on its west. It borders Imsil-gun on its north and part of Jangseong-gun, Damyang-gun and Gokseong-gun of Jeollanam-do on its south.
